Tub & Shower Cleaner

Homemade
Soap

After recently quitting my job, I have found that maybe we all need to find simpler ways to live.  I tell you I have been much less stressed and a lot happier staying home.  Now I want to help other moms who are blessed enough to stay home.  Let me know what you are looking for ... I'll try to get it all here in one place.

My friend, Kristie, & I just made 10 gallons of Laundry soap.  Who knew it could be so easy ... don't be afraid to try it.  It works fine on HE washers too.  You can find several recipes on Pinterest, but here is the one we used.

   LAUNDRY SOAP

4  Cups – hot tap water
1  Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup - Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda

½ Cup Borax

  1. Grate the bar of soap with a cheese grater & put into a saucepan with hot water.

  2. Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full with hot tap water.

  3. Add melted soap, washing soda & borax.

  4. Stir well until powder is dissolved. (if you have an attachment for your drill that stirs paint ... it's a huge help)

  5. Fill the bucket to the top with more hot water.

  6. Cover & sit overnight to thicken.

  7. Stir again  and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use.

  8. You can add 10-15 drops of Essential oils once it cools to each 2 gallons.

  9. Use 1/4 c in an HE washer or 1/2 c in regular washer.

Fabric Softener Sheets

Living Simply

12 oz Dawn Dishwashing Liquid

12 oz White vinegar

Put in a 24 oz spray bottle

3 c Water

1/4 c Baking Soda

1 1/2 c White Vinegar

1/4 c favorite hair conditioner

Essential Oils (optional)

Old t-shirt, sheet or towel

Plastic container or ziploc bag

Add water & baking soda to large container.  Stir to mix. SLOWLY add the vinegar.  Stir slowly and constantly until baking soda dissolves completely.  Then add 4 drops of essential oils.

  • Cut t-shirt, sheet, or towel to fit your container.

  • Line bottom of cookie sheet with new dryer sheets.

  • Pour a cup or so of fabric softener over them & allow to soak up.

  • Now put into your container.

  • Repeat steps 2-4.

  • Pour remaining liquid into container.

  • Now just throw them into the dryer with your wet laundry.

After a load dries, take the sheet & put it in the bottom of your container to soak up more softener.
